A cold doesn’t have to be bad for us humans, but should not be underestimated in a sick hamster. Clean the enclosure thoroughly and make sure it is warm. If you don’t see any improvement after two days, visit the vet to prevent the disease from progressing to pneumonia.

Pneumonia is a bacterial infection that often ends badly. A quick diagnosis and quick treatment are therefore necessary.

If you keep hamsters in a group, it is important that you separate the cold hamster from the rest. The cold is contagious.
