Of course Dwarf Hamsters love snacks, but what can you give them all? The snacks below are very suitable and also a tasty snack for dwarf hamsters.
Seeds
Dwarf hamsters are granivores. This means that they mainly eat seeds. The seeds that you give to your dwarf hamster include:
  • Spray vultures,
  • Wheat spikes,
  • Linseed,
  • Amaranth,
  • Dari flask,
  • Canary seed.
(Dried) Fruits
Dwarf hamsters can also get all the usual fruits that you eat yourself, such as:
  • apples,
  • pears,
  • bananas,
  • strawberries,
  • pitted cherries,
  • apricots,
  • raspberry,
  • peaches.
Note the following points!
  • Give (dried) fruit in moderation. Dwarf hamsters should not eat much fruit due to the sugar content of most fruits.
  • Do not give fresh banana. Fresh Banana is sticky and can stick to the cheek pouches.
  • Do not offer the fruit too moist otherwise the hamster may develop diarrhea.
(Dried) Vegetable
You can give your hamster all the vegetables that you eat yourself, such as:
  • lettuce,
  • iceberg lettuce,
  • endive,
  • cucumber,
  • kohlrabi,
  • carrot (without foliage),
  • zucchini,
  • chicory,
  • maize,
  • broccoli,
  • green beans,
  • dried pea flakes,
  • bell pepper.
Pay attention! Do not offer the vegetables too moist because then the animal can get diarrhea.
Nuts
Nuts are high in important vitamins and polyunsaturated fatty acids, which have positive health benefits. You can give the following notes to your dwarf hamster:
  • peanuts,
  • walnuts,
  • hazelnuts.
Insects and shellfish
Insects and shellfish are also on the menu of the dwarf hamster. You can offer dried insects, but you can also give live insects to your hamster. Insects and shellfish contain valuable animal proteins.
  • mealworms,
  • crickets,
  • grasshoppers,
  • silkworms,
  • gammarus (lobsters),
  • river prawns.
Fish is also a healthy snack for your hamster. Fish contains omega 3, which is a healthy fat type for humans and animals.
