Plants for your hamster

The use of different plants in the enclosure gives a very nice and natural look, but what do the hamsters think of the plants? And which plants can you use and which not? First of all, it’s important that the plants are specially grown for the consumption of animals, preferably organic. In the garden center, chemicals are often used to grow the plants. This is of course not good for our little friends.A major advantage of plants is that the vitamins and minerals are better preserved than with dried plants. The fresh plants are therefore richer in nutrients. The following plants are safe to use in your hamster enclosure:
  • Cat grass
  • Chlorophytum (Grass lily plant)
  • Leaf lettuce
  • Thyme plant
  • Chamomile plant
  • Melissa plant
  • Wheat germ plant
  • Dandelion plant
  • Vitamin plant
  • Plantain plant

In addition to the fact that the plants are nice in the enclosure, each plant has its own function. In the near future I will experiment with a number of different plants in Harry’s enclosure to see how he reacts to it. I’m already looking forward to it!
